I seem to have more bird pictures left than other things, so they will be interspersed
regularly among these last few letters.
Here's another good shot of the kori bustard. It was so hot, even the birds
were panting.
Our old friend, the marabou stork, from a different angle. They are normally
around water so it was unusual to see them in grass like this.
Another--with his
breeding display sack inflated. For such a handsome body, they sure have an ugly head, don't they.
These two reminded me of what an English lady once told us about German
tourists. "One German is nice, but two are always marching."
This is a Stanley's bustard--not quite as big. This was a new bird for me,
bringing my Southern African bird list to 486--do you think I will live long enough to reach 500. I
seem to only add about four each trip now.
The way to spot a Stanley's bustard at a distance is by the red on the back of his neck.
