We drove around to the other side for better light.  When the lionesses did get close, the big male buffaloes began to chase them away and the other buffalo did get up and watch.  The lionesses treated it almost like a game and kept up constant harassment.

Some of the bulls came quite far out after the lionesses, who ran just out of harm's way.

And as soon as the bull turned around, they came back for more.  There's the other vehicle and we are a little closer on this side, but we are both far enough away that the lions didn't give us a glance.

The camera alters depth perception a little, but there is about 20 feet/6m between these lionesses and the buffalo.  You can see neither is particularly upset with the other at this point.

But the bulls think the lionesses should move back a little and let this be known.  The lionesses say, 'Oh, all right.'

This cat and mouse game went on for some time and was very interesting to watch.
