As a respite from the blood and gore of the lions, here are some more birds.
There was large pond left by the drying up of a river at Duba Plains.
Having no outlet anymore made it a wonderful place for concentrated fish and we saw lots and lots
of birds there. These are all marabous except the two yellow-billed storks in the back.
It was quite a long body of water and we saw various things in different
parts. Here, in one of the narrow sections,besides the marabou storks, there are white
pelicans and Egyptian geese.
Here's a view of the widest part. We saw 21 species here in 15 minutes.
Here's a water dikkop--that means thick head in Afrikaans.
And a black-winged stilt grooming.
While overhead we saw a bataleur eagle soaring.
