The morning of our second day at Duba Plains, we went out looking for lions
hunting buffalo. We found some on the hunt, but they were not too seriously trying and
James felt that they wouldn't get anything in the morning, so we went and looked at other
things. The other vehicle from our camp decided to stay out with them until the lions got
a buffalo--they were out for 13 hours and were very sunburned. The camp sent lunch to
them. They did get to see the actual buffalo kill (Don't worry we did too the next day.)
and we arrived very shortly thereafter.
Here's the whole Tsaro Pride enjoying their meal.
Some bits take a lot of work to get at.
Then who should appear, having heard the successful kill happen a mile away?
The Duba Boys!
"Okay, we're here now--everybody out!!"
"All of you! Scram!!"
"Okay, okay--we're going, Sir!"
This was all very noisy with lots of snarling, hissing, and roaring and
complaining, but you can see the submissive postures on all of them.
"Everybody--out now! And be quick about it!! This is now our buffalo."
Because all these lions are the descendents of the Duba Boys, they respect
their authority. They would certainly hear about it if they didn't! They might argue
a little, but they all backed down very quickly.
