It was wonderful to be able to be so close and then use the telephoto lens as
well--I couldn't resist these portrait type shots. They looked so serious when they were
checking for danger.
They seemed to cover all directions instinctively.
Nothing coming from any side. Only the smallest baby was looking at us.
Stairsteps. Aren't their little hands adorable!
This is the whole family except for two. After about an hour they
began moving off, foraging as they went. Wendy would follow them till it got too hot and
then come back to see them go back underground for the evening. What a wonderful treat for
us to be there when she was working with the meerkats--an opportunity we never would have had
at any other time or place!
