This handsome fellow was the head of this family of meerkats. Wendy had
figured out several in the hierarchy by her constant observations.
Here is his official portrait that hangs in the town hall at the end of one
of those tunnels. Great whiskers!
No matter what was going on around them, the adults were always alert.
This one is approaching Wendy for a tasty little scorpion.
And this little fellow on the left has just finished one.
Here's a little digger--either looking for a snack on his own, or enlarging
one of the many entrances they had in this town of theirs.
Just a-settin' and a-restin'. Look at those fingernails and you can
see why they are such good diggers.
