Here are some snapshots of the camps we stayed in at Kruger.
After this I will send animal shots by species plus an occasional story
of something we saw.
The first camp was Berg en Dal which is in the southwestern part
of the Park.
At our cottage, a squirrel kept throwing the thatch down every time it was
mended at the top over the door--he was nesting under the roof cap.
By coincidence, another couple of e-friends from Holland,
the Lagraaus, were at this camp at the same time. We had dinner together.
The second camp was Lower Sabie. It was badly damaged
in the floods of early 2002 and then had a fire too. All the public buildings
have been rebuilt. We met some more e-friends, the Heroux's from Joburg,
there. Here we are at lunch.
We also had supper together and as we had our drinks, two hippos
were fighting in the river just below us.
There are bushbok all over the camp at Lower Sabie. They have
learned it's safe within the fenced area.
Here's our hut at Lower Sabie.
..........and the spotted hyena who went by just
outside the fence every day.
