The first animals we saw on the first
drive were wild dogs! They had been sleeping under a bush, but our tracker
spotted them. We would never have seen them under there. We stopped
and they came out to see what was up.
One doesn't realize how big their ears
are.
There was much yawning and scratching and
then they all lay down again.
Some looked around and some went back to
sleep.
They are so interesting. Supposedly
their name is being changed to painted hunting dog, but we didn't hear anyone
calling them that. Wild dogs are the most threatened predator in Africa
and it is hoped that a 'friendlier' name will help raise interest in
them.
