We were privileged to see a young bull giraffe challenge an established one in the golden light of late afternoon.  First they just posed around  a bit.

Then they began swinging their necks at each other with louder and louder thwacks.  They really put their whole bodies into it.  Here's the wind up for the final blow.

Which absolutely staggered the challenger.

Then they both strode off in opposite directions as if nothing had happened.

Then on the opposite end of the spectrum.......we have "kissy-face".....

Remember I mentioned the vulnerable position?

Who knows what could happen...............

but when you realize that it's another bull, discretion is the better part of valor.
