Kudu are one of the most
magnificent of the African antelopes. They are great jumpers, but you
don't get to witness that very often. The males have spectacular horns and
they all have huge expressive ears.
They say you can tell the age of a kudu by
the number of curves in the horns, making this guy about six.
Here are a good pair that Frank
clicked through the windshield in Kruger. Notice the 'beard' and heavier
neck that the male has.
The males when showing off for the females
hold their heads up and lay the horns along their backs and really strut their
stuff. This fellow was nice enough to show us his beautiful head and horns
from all sides.
During the Christmas season there will
probably not be very many letters. There are some people who seem to think
there are some things more important than my computer! But I will finish
the letters eventually--there are lots and lots more.
