On the afternoon drive the day we arrived at San Camp, we went into the national park on the edge of the pan.  We saw mostly zebra--hundreds and hundreds of zebras.  The herd had between twelve and fourteen hundred in it and went on forever.

Mostly they just walked along..............

......but occasionally they would run for a bit when they were in the open............

..........or when they got separated from the group..........

But mostly they just walked on and on and on..............

A few would stop and look at us looking at them.............

But then they would walk on..................

..........and on and on...........
There was no water within miles and miles.  That's where they were going--someplace to find water.

It was quite an impressive sight--definitely the most of any animal we had ever seen and their determination and instinct to find water was amazing to us.  How did they know where to go?
