You know how I am about birds and I think I got some great pictures this
trip. Here are a group of smaller birds.
The African Golden Oriole
Burchell's glossy starling--a lot prettier than the European
starling we have in the States, don't you think!
The
adorable Little bee eater.
The spectacular Malachite kingfisher--it's only 5 inches/14 centimeters long.
Probably the favorite bird for everyone to photograph--the lilac
breasted roller--with a nice morsel of some sort. I have yet to get a good
picture of this bird flying--showing its spectacular iridescent turquoise wings.
A little silhouette-y perhaps, but you can still see why this bird is
called the fork-tailed drongo. It is an all black bird. It's very territorial
and spends its day chasing birds of any size out of the area it has chosen.
The woodland kingfisher--another bird with turquoise wings flashing when it flies.
There will be lots more bird letters.
